Writing Music for over 30 years
As a young man in Jamaica, I was encouraged by Duke Reid the producer of the original song “The Tide is High” by the Paragons, and also my cousin Alston Bair a singer/actor in pantomine who toured with Adam Wade.
I did not utilize the encouragement because I was more into working for the government of Jamaica, then the government of the United States Navy working at the ship repair department as a painter, and then the Navy Exchange as an inventory clerk, engraver, and bowling ball driller. My final job for the Navy was as a firefighter. I later came to Canada as a student. After finishing school, my first job was with the Simpson department store as an air condition refrigeration maintainer. I later moved onto to work as an aircraft mechanic for the Canadian government.
Fifteen years before retirement, I returned to songwriting. I was told by artists from SGA that my songs are good and that I should get serious, including Phyllis Hyman, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, and other well-established artists. It’s my ambition for a recording artist to sing one of my many rhythm songs.
